The aviator jacket was never conceived as an ornament.

It was born in the earliest years of flight, when open and unpressurised cockpits exposed pilots to unforgiving winds and extreme cold. Leather became protection. Generous proportions allowed layers beneath it. Wool and shearling guarded the neck against the elements. Every detail existed for a reason.

And then women took to the skies.

The pioneering aviators of the early twentieth century entered a world whose uniforms had been created almost exclusively for men. Women such as Amelia Earhart wore the same language of leather, volume and utility, transforming garments born from necessity into enduring expressions of independence.

The Commandant Aviator Heritage for Women returns to that beginning.

Rather than reducing the original silhouette to conform to conventional womenswear proportions, Maison Cycas d’Or preserves its commanding volume. The shoulders remain generous. The body remains deliberately oversized. Its removable wool collar allows the character of the jacket to shift, from the unmistakable warmth of heritage aviation to a cleaner leather silhouette.
